Born in Hunan, Changsha (China), Wei Zhe studied the violin under her uncle Wei Jingwen at age five. In 1988 she entered the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and studied with renowned violinist Prof Zheng Shi Sheng. Upon graduation she joined the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra in 1992. In 1998 Wei Zhe joined the SSO as first violinist. In her free time, she enjoys shopping and travelling.
