Ikebe Jun |
Jun Ikebe has been a member of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra since August 2000. Prior to this appointment, he was an extremely active freelance trumpeter in many European orchestras. He has also served as Acting and Guest Principal Trumpet with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Myung-Whun Chung and was specifically invited by Maestro Seiji Ozawa to play in the Saito Kinen Orchestra.
Jun is the first-call trumpeter for many international and local music ensembles performing in Singapore, and has played to wide acclaim in a variety of genres, from classical music to Latin big band. Notably, he was the only brass player from the SSO engaged to play with the Russian National Orchestra during their Asian tour in 2004.
Having completed his basic music studies in Japan, Jun furthered his musical training in France with Professor Jean-Jacques Gaudon, and the late Pierre Thibaud at École Nationale de Musique Edgar Varèse. Subsequently, he was admitted to the class of the eminent Professor Hans Gansch at Mozarteum Salzburg, from which he graduated with the highest possible grade.
