Seow Jin Chong |
Seow Jin Chong has been a first violinist with the SSO since 1983. After obtaining his LRSM Performer's Diploma in 1979, he went on to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London under an SSO scholarship, where he graduated in 1982 with the AGSM Diploma in performing and teaching, and thereafter the Certificate of Advanced Studies (Orchestral) in 1983. Another scholarship from the Government of the State of Ireland enabled him to study with the renowned pedagogue Yair Kless at the Rubin Academy of Music in Tel Aviv from 1985 to 1986. Jin Chong was the winner of the Rolex Music Performance Award for Violin in 1987 and has appeared as soloist with the SSO in 1984 and 1988. He is married with three young children and has a wide range of interests including playing tennis, scuba diving and snorkling and studying the Bible. He is also an active member of the Christian Musicians Fellowship.
