A premier Asian orchestra gaining recognition around the world, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra aims to enrich the local cultural scene, serving as a bridge between the musical traditions of Asia and the West, and providing artistic inspiration, entertainment and education. Since Maestro Lan Shui assumed the position of Music Director in 1997, the SSO has been distinguished by a high level of excellence and a rising international profile.
The SSO invites applicants for these positions:
1) SECTION CELLO 2) SECTION DOUBLE BASS
Salary and Benefits • Salary will be commensurate with experience and abilities. Basic starting salary from SGD 47,360 to SGD 62,900 (approx. USD 34,156 to USD 45,363) per annum. • Attractive tax rates starting at around 5% for these positions. • 52 paid weeks a year, including 6 weeks of paid annual leave in addition to statutory holidays and other leave benefits. • Medical, dental, work injury compensation, travel insurance and instrument insurance benefits.
Work schedule (a) nine (9) sessions of work per week; (b) two (2) sessions of work per day; (c) three (3) hours per session of work;

Application and audition procedure:
1. Closing date for applications: 31 October 2010
2. Applications must include: (a) CV (b) completed application form; (c) audio recording of 2 contrasting solo works (preferably 1st movement of a standard concerto) AND 6 orchestral excerpts. Accompaniment is not required.
3. Shortlisted applicants will be notified in October/November 2010 for a preliminary audition.
4. Successful candidates from the preliminary auditions will be invited to Singapore for trial and final audition from 11 - 22 January 2011.
