American violinist Jennifer Koh performs the Sibelius Violin Concerto, one of the pillars of the violinist's concerto repertoire. This concert of popular masterpieces concludes with The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra, subtitled Variations and Fugue on a theme of Purcell. Whilst originally written by Benjamin Britten as the soundtrack for an educational film (each variation is presented by a different section of the orchestra), it has become one of his best loved compositions.

Jennifer Koh replaces Jennifer Pike, who is indisposed, for this concert.
