The Singapore Symphony Group (SSG), which manages Singapore’s flagship orchestra, has moved its management office from the Victoria Concert Hall to the new NAFA Campus One Tower Block on Bencoolen Street with effect from September 25.

In addition to the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, the Group includes the Singapore National Youth Orchestra and three choruses, namely, the Singapore Symphony Chorus, Singapore Symphony Children’s Choir and Singapore Symphony Youth Choir. SSG also runs the Singapore representative office of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM).

Previously, the SSG occupied separate offices in the Victoria Concert Hall which is the home of the SSO, Adelphi and also at Evans Road, as the office spaces in VCH could not accommodate the entire SSG management team. With the move, all these departments of the SSG will be able to operate in one common space, with greater efficiency. At the same time, the office spaces at Victoria Concert Hall will be converted into operational spaces for the SSO’s performances including the orchestra’s expanding collection of Singaporean compositions.

Mr Chng Hak-Peng, Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Symphony Group, says: “We are grateful to the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts for working with us to find a suitable space to accommodate our growing scope. It is a privilege for us to be located on an education campus in the downtown area, which allows us to pursue both our twin objectives of livening up the arts district with classical music, and playing our education and nurturing role in the community.”

A key mission of the SSO and its affiliated performing groups is to spread the love for music, nurture talent and enrich our diverse communities. To create memorable shared experiences with music, in addition to the SSO concerts, the Group also presents chamber music performances at the Victoria Concert Hall, through the VCH Presents series, VCH Organ Series and the Singapore International Piano Festival.
