The Victoria Concert Hall today announced their 2018/19 season with concerts that connect audiences and performers in an intimate space.

The new VCH Excite! series highlights the collaborative connections between classical music and other genres. World music opens the series on 30 September 2018 with Silk Road Ensemble percussionist Mark Suter in “Project: World”. For video game lovers, Arnie Roth will conduct “A New World: intimate music from FINAL FANTASY” on 17 November 2018. This series will also showcase Singaporean violinist Kam Ning’s Loco Motive Trio in a folk and bluegrass lineup on 3 March 2019, and singer Rani Singam will partner classical and jazz musicians to perform music by Singaporean composer Chok Kerong on 6 April 2019.

The VCH Presents series continues to bring audiences closer to classical music stars. The four concerts will feature renowned artists including the Borodin Quartet, violinist James Ehnes and harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani. Grammy award-winning mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter will make her Singapore debut on 5 June 2019. She will collaborate with trailblazing string quartet Brooklyn Rider in a mesmerizing array of evocative songs by Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw as well as luminescent arrangements of songs by John Adams, Björk and more.

From 5 to 7 October 2018, Victoria Concert Hall will play host to a three-day Baroque Festival with concerts by organist Stefan Kiessling, and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and Chorus directed by Sofi Jeannin, the Chief Conductor Designate of the BBC Singers, a role she assumes in July 2018.

As the Home of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Victoria Concert Hall continues to welcome schools and families throughout the year. In addition to the ever-popular SSO Concerts for Children, Babies’ Proms and Christmas Concert, the SSO will engage audiences through several concerts: “Red Balloon: Reich in 60 Minutes” on 12 January 2019, “Lars Vogt · Mozart Piano Concerto 21” on 19 & 20 October 2018, “Christopher Park Plays Mozart” on 22 & 23 February 2019, “Master of the Harp” on 1 & 2 March 2019 and “Sabine Meyer · Mozart Clarinet Concerto” on 22 & 23 March 2019.

The hall continues its instrumental showcase with the Singapore International Piano Festival and Singapore’s only series of organ concerts, the VCH Organ Series. The 26th SIPF will take place from 30 May to 3 June 2019, helmed by its new Artistic Director Lim Yan.
