Come October 11, catch award-winning guitarist Milos Karadaglic’s Singapore debut in this mesmerising programme of soulful guitar classics at the Esplanade Concert hall, led by Taiwanese-American conductor Carolyn Kuan, the first woman to be awarded the Herbert von Karajan Conducting Fellowship. The SSO also presents Liquid Interface for orchestra and electronica by Mason Bates, Musical America’s Composer of the Year 2018, alongside Rachmaninov's Symphonic Dances, his final composition.

“The hottest guitarist in the world”, Milos Karadaglic continues to top the record charts and delight audiences worldwide. His first three releases on the prestigious Deutsche Grammophon label achieved major chart success around the globe and turned him into “classical music’s guitar hero” (BBC Music Magazine) overnight. His 2014 recording of Rodrigo’s concertos had the Sunday Times calling him “The King of Aranjuez”, while “Blackbird- the Beatles album” (2016) was received with unanimous critical acclaim. Recorded in the infamous Abbey Road Studio 2, it features classic Beatles songs performed in innovative new arrangements by Sérgio Assad and includes collaborations with the jazz legend Gregory Porter, pop singer Tori Amos, cellist Steven Isserlis and sitar superstar Anoushka Shankar.

Audiences at our concert will get a chance to meet Milos Karadaglic up-close and personal in our autograph session.

Recognized as a conductor of extraordinary versatility, Carolyn Kuan has enjoyed successful associations with top tier orchestras, opera companies, ballet companies, and festivals worldwide. Her commitment to contemporary music has defined her approach to programming, and established her as an international resource for new music and world premieres. Appointed Music Director of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra in 2011, she has recently signed a new six-year contract extending their creative collaboration through May, 2022.
