The Singapore National Youth Orchestra is Singapore’s leading orchestra dedicated to the training and development of young orchestral musicians in Singapore. Members of the youth orchestra are between 10 and 21 years old representing more than 60 schools across Singapore.
The young musicians from Singapore are excited to be able to share their passion for music with the audiences in a free lunchtime concert on Thursday, 20 December 2018, 12.30pm at the Victoria Concert Hall. For this concert, they will be performing three pieces under the direction of the SNYO’s Principal Conductor Joshua Tan.
Opening the concert is a piece specially commissioned by the SNYO, Bloom for orchestra, composed by Ms Lee Jia Yi who is currently a 4th year Composition student at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore. The next piece features trumpet superstar Pacho Flores in the thrilling Arutiunian Trumpet Concerto. Concluding the performance is Elgar’s Enigma Variations, representing a series of musical portraits of the composer’s friends.
