The MPYO and conductor Naohisa Furusawa celebrate youthful Malaysian musicians. 19-year old Tengku Irfan is better known here as a formidable concert pianist but he conducts his new composition (an MPYO commission) in a world premiere performance as well as Barber’s Essay No. 2. Rising violinist 13-year old Low Zi Yang then performs Ravel’s virtuoso violin showpiece Tzigane and the concert concludes grandly with Dvořák’s most popular Ninth Symphony.
