Synopsis
The Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) has invited renowned Hollywood orchestrator and conductor Tim Davies to conduct a two half-day orchestration workshop on 21 & 22 January 2020.
Observe and learn as Tim Davies and our 8 selected candidates delve into Ravel's Le Gibet, cues from the Trollhunters movie, as well as a dialogue and Q&A.
21 January
- 2:30pm - 4:30pm: Workshop - Le Gibet (with break)
- 4:45pm - 5:30pm: Dialogue and Q&A (Topic: Learning the craft of composition)
22 January
- 2:30pm - 4:30pm: Workshop - Trollhunters' cues (with break)
- 4:45pm - 5:30pm: Dialogue and Q&A (Topic: The business of orchestration in the Hollywood film industry)
The venue opens at 2pm each day. Do arrive early to secure your most ideal seats.

- Children must be age 7 and above to be admitted into the hall.
- Children under 7 will not be admitted into the hall, even with a ticket.
- Please bring along proof of child’s age, such as a student concession pass, as random checks may be conducted at the venue.
- Parents or guardians of children admitted are strongly encouraged to select aisle seats.
- We reserve the right to ask parents to bring children out of the hall should they be disruptive during the talk.
- No admission without registration.
- You are strongly advised to be seated 15 minutes before the talk's start time.
- Latecomers will only be admitted at appropriate pauses during the talk, if any.
- Non-flash photography is allowed. No photography when artistes are performing.
- Unauthorised video recordings are strictly not allowed.
