Upstream Music Access Programme (UMAP)

Upstream Music Access Programme (UMAP) - Pilot Programme

The SNYO is pleased to present the Upstream Music Access Programme (UMAP), a developmental music training programme designed to identify, nurture, and support young wind, brass, and percussion musicians from school band programmes. This pilot programme, taking place from January to September 2027, aims to create equitable access to high-level music training with SSO musicians, specifically targeting Secondary 2 & 3 students (in 2027) who will benefit from exposure to national or professional-level development opportunities.

These young musicians will attend weekly sectionals at the SNYO Studios, which will focus on technique (fundamentals) and ensemble work. Throughout the months, we hope to develop participants' instrumental abilities and musicianship, as well as provide them with exposure to high-level performance settings hosted by SNYO. These skills will also guide them in their own musical endeavours in their school programmes. The pilot programme culminates in a final closed-door showcase at the Esplanade Recital Studio on 4 September 2027 (Sat), 4pm.

If you are interested to be a part of UMAP, please ensure that you are eligible according to the criteria below before filling in the application form at the end of this page.

Please note: This pilot programme is only open to students of MOE schools playing standard orchestral wind, brass, and percussion instruments.
