The SSO is cancelling Concerts for Children: Journey Around the World this weekend as a result of travel restrictions affecting the conductor Jessica Gethin. All four performances (Sat 21 March 2pm & 4pm; Sun 22 March 2pm & 4pm) at the Victoria Concert Hall are cancelled.

Jessica said: “It is with deep regret that I announce I am unable to conduct this weekend’s Singapore Symphony Orchestra’s Concert for Children: Journey Around the World, due to travel advice from the Australian government related to the unprecedented events of COVID-19.

"This beautiful concert lies close to my heart as it unites us all across the globe through the universal language of music, something we need now more than ever. I look forward to being able to return to Singapore to join the wonderful musicians from the Singapore Symphony Orchestra in the near future.”

Chng Hak-Peng, CEO of Singapore Symphony Group, said: “Our Concerts for Children are some of our most popular shows, so we can imagine the disappointment of the families and we seek their understanding in these extraordinary circumstances. We are now contacting all affected patrons who will be offered refunds. This is the first ticketed concert cancellation by the SSO due to the COVID-19 situation and we will continue to do our utmost to bring uplifting musical experiences to Singapore audiences.”

A full refund will be arranged for ticket holders. For payment via credit card, ticket holders will receive an automatic refund issued by SISTIC within 1-2 months’ credit card billing cycle. For payment via cash/NETS, SISTIC will be in touch with ticket holders on the various ways to obtain the refund.

Ticket sales to all SSO concerts have been temporarily halted, while the orchestra adjusts all other future concerts to meet new social distancing measures, including maximum capacity of 250 patrons and spaced-out seating. Affected patrons will be contacted over the coming days.
