Who // One of the most eminent Finnish conductors of our time, Hannu Lintu, is known for his commanding stage presence and powerful orchestral direction. Maestro Lintu previously conducted the SSO to acclaim in Oct 2017, and returns again this October with fellow Finn, the fascinating pianist Olli Mustonen.

Hear // The pair recently released a complete cycle of Prokofiev’s Piano Concertos on record, works known for their diabolical difficulty and astringent modernity. The Singapore audience is invited to witness them live at the Esplanade, as they perform the Russian composer’s Second Piano Concerto on 26 Oct. The programme also includes Tchaikovsky’s tumultuous orchestral tale, Francesca da Rimini, after the tragic episode from Dante’s Divine Comedy. Attendees can also look forward to Hannu Lintu’s interpretation of Sibelius’s First Symphony, a pioneering work by Finland’s most important composer, a Nordic soundscape of grandeur and solitude.

When // 26 Oct, 7.30pm. Esplanade Concert Hall.

Meet // Audiences can meet Hannu Lintu at the Pre-Concert Talk at library@esplanade, and Olli Mustonen at his autograph session during the concert intermission.
