Chamber music series VCHpresents will once again be putting on a programme of events for the Light to Festival. This year, the calendar of events will include both online and live events at Victoria Concert H all.
Four performing arts groups from Singapore’s vibrant music scene will perform on two consecutive weekends – Friday 22 & Saturday 23 Jan and Friday 28 & Saturday 29 Jan. The programme begins with performances by three of Singapore’s finest young pianists – prize winners from the 2019 National Piano and Violin Competition. The following day, Orkestra Sri Temasek takes centre-stage with their unique interpretation of music by the likes of Piazzolla, Rossini and Vivaldi on both western and traditional Malay instruments.
Harp Quartet La Vie En Harpe performs the following Friday, 28 Jan, with a musical trip around the world, taking in Tchaikovsky’s Russia, De Falla’s Spain, Scott Joplin’s North America and even a musical tour of a Persian market. The programme of live events is completed by the Sari-Sari Philippine Kulintang Ensemble, who will guide the audience through an exploration of kulintang, a thrilling style of music from the Philippines. All live performances will be open to 100 audience members and tickets are on sale now for just $5.
For the first time, VCHpresents’ Light to Night festival offerings will also include free digital events: two webinars, on 20 & 28 Jan, will explore how concerts make it onto our screens from first idea to final cut. On 24 January, the SNYO Percussion Ensemble makes a return to the festival with an online studio session, free to watch on the VCHpresents Facebook and YouTube pages.
