Synopsis
"[Vondráček’s] pianistic perfection was flawless, right down to the smallest detail.” (Dagblad van het Noorden). Czech pianist Lukáš Vondráček, winner of the Grand Prix at the 2016 International Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition, performs six sonatas from the closing years of the 18th century. This recital shows Beethoven in his characteristic element with the key of C minor, the tempestuous outbursts of the Op. 10 No. 1 sonata foreshadowing the gravitas of the Grande sonate pathétique, a title bestowed by the publisher and approved by the composer. However, Beethoven is not all serious, as we also encounter humour, beauty, pathos, playfulness and tenderness in equal measure.

These sonatas encompass the complete spectrum of the human condition, reflecting his poignant struggle with growing deafness and his indefatigable drive to transcend all limits.

Admission Advice
- This concert is recommended for ages 7 and above.
- Parents or guardians of children who become disruptive during the performance may be requested by venue staff to step out of the hall with the child.
