Synopsis
This joint initiative between Samaritans of Singapore and Singapore Symphony Orchestra is a first partnership of its kind – seeking to foster open conversations around mental well-being and leveraging the universal language of music to reach and connect with the community. It is extra meaningful in the SG60 year, as the nation focuses its 60th jubilee celebration on being kinder and playing our part in building a stronger Singapore together, where mental well-being has been coined as a priority for all. As the mental health crisis grows in Singapore, this event strives to destigmatize the conversation surrounding mental wellbeing and present music as a form of care.
This 2-hour programme will feature talks by SOS & SSO, performances by SSO musicians and a panel discussion with Dr Tan Xue Li, Principal Music Therapist, Music Therapy Lead and Research Lead at St. Luke’s Hospital, Ms Shantini, an individual with lived experience, SOS Senior Counsellor, Ms Chan May Peng and SSO Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kok Tse Wei.
