The Concert Operations Officer supports all aspects of concert operations and production for the Singapore Symphony Group (SSG). This includes stage setups and strikes, logistics moves, equipment and instrument handling, and ensuring smooth backstage operations during rehearsals and concerts. The role is hands-on, dynamic, and central to creating a professional performance environment for conductors, musicians, and guest artists.
REPORTS TO: Production Manager / Stage Manager / Assistant Stage Manager
SUPERVISES: Nil
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up and strike stage equipment, furniture, and instruments for rehearsals and concerts.
- Ensure safe and optimal stage conditions (e.g. sufficient space, conductor sightlines, stable risers, no trip hazards, clear access routes, adequate backstage lighting).
- Prepare stage, backstage areas, and dressing rooms so they are open, clean, and equipped with required logistics (e.g. signage, F&B, wardrobe) before the arrival of conductors, soloists, and musicians.
- Execute and coordinate stage moves during rehearsals and concerts.
- Pack down all equipment, furniture, instruments and backstage supplies after rehearsals and concerts.
- Coordinate the safe and timely transportation of furniture, equipment, and instruments between venues, in line with SSO and affiliated groups’ requirements.
- Maintain and inventory technical equipment and instruments; perform or coordinate minor repairs when required.
- Support any front and back-of-house activities when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum Higher Nitec with experience in technical production, events, or MICE.
- Able to work nights, weekends, and public holidays; willing to commit to overtime.
- Applicants should be physically fit, as the role involves frequent lifting, moving, and stage setups.
- Positive attitude; able to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; basic computing skills required.
- Knowledge of technical theatre, electrical or audio-visual will be an added advantage.
- Interest in live (especially classical) music is a plus.

The Intern will provide crucial support to the Singapore Symphony Chorus, Singapore Symphony Youth Chorus, and Singapore Symphony Children’s Choir, in areas ranging from membership administration to event production as well as outreach initiatives.

REPORTS TO: Manager, Choral Programmes
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Membership Administration
- Assist with communication with stakeholders (e.g. choristers, parents/guardians) via choral email and mobile
- Facilitate audition and rehearsal preparations (e.g. printing and distribution of audition materials and music scores)
- Prepare, update and file audition/review forms, rehearsal and performance schedules, email databases, IDs/backstage passes, testimonials, handbooks and other relevant documents for members
- Administer members' feedback via concert surveys
- Track and reconcile monthly financial transactions relating to training fees and rent/purchase of costumes and materials
Production and Logistics
- Prepare stage plans / technical riders and communicate requirements to venue production colleagues / counterparts
- Assist with set up and strike for internal events (e.g. SSCC Experience and Auditions, selected rehearsals / vocal coaching sessions)
Events and Outreach
- Collate and review key information (e.g. biographies of artistic personnel, performers' list) relating to concerts and performance events
- Support marketing initiatives to boost publicity of events
- Contribute to collaborative / outreach projects and partnerships
REQUIREMENTS
- Commit to 42.5-hour work week comprising:
- Weekly Monday evening rehearsals between 7.30pm to 10.15pm
- Thursday evening rehearsals between 7.30pm to 10.15pm, up to 2 weeks before each concert week
- Weekly Saturday Training Wing sessions between 9am to 6pm
- Off days on Fridays and/or hourly basis in consultation with supervisor
- Interest in classical/choral music, knowledge of music theory and/or experience in a performing arts group or ensemble is advantageous
- An eye for accuracy and attention to details
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in computer software e.g. Microsoft Office suite
- A team player with the ability to engage a broad range of stakeholders and work well with diverse personalities
