Wei Shing Chan (Chan Wei Shing)

Chan Wei Shing was born into a musical family and started playing the piano at the age of eight and cello at the age of ten. In 1985, he won First Prize in the cello open and chamber music categories of the National Music Competition. 

In 1988, he began studying with Professor Angelika May at the University of Music in Vienna and later with Professor Rudolf Leopold in Graz in Austria. In 1996, he was awarded a Masters in Cello Performance. 

In 2011, Wei Shing and his wife started a opera company - they have since become the company's Music Directors and have conducted many operas including Die Fledermaus, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Dialogues des Carmélites, to name a few.

Wei Shing's passion lies not only in music: he also dives regularly and has a passion for photography and cooking.
