Christopher Mui
Australian cellist Christopher Mui has engaged in numerous musical experiences internationally, having performed mostly as a chamber musician in Switzerland, Norway, Japan, Italy, Brazil, China and Malaysia. His former teachers include Uzi Wiesel, Li Wei Qin, Ernst Simon Glaser, Job ter Haar and Ole Bohn. He has also participated in numerous masterclasses for distinguished artists such as Steven Isserlis, Gary Hoffman, Truls Mørk, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, and taken part in projects performing for both Helmut Lachenmann (temA) and Georg Friedrich Haas (Sextet for 3 violas and 3 cellos and Nach-Ruf… ent-gleitend).
A graduate of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore, he is currently undertaking a Specialized Masters Diploma course in contemporary music at the Hochschule der Künste Bern under David Eggert. His notable achievements include being awarded the Most Promising Player in the Gisborne International Music Competition in New Zealand, 3rd Prize in the Boris Pergamenschikow Preis for Contemporary Chamber Music, and being selected as a representative to perform at the Pacific Alliance of Music Schools in Beijing, and a participant of the prestigious Piatigorsky Cello Festival in Los Angeles.
