Duan Yu Ling

Section Violin

Born in Chengdu, China, Duan Yu Ling studied the violin at the Central Conservatory of Music since the age of 11. She attended the University of Southern California on full scholarship and was under the guidance of Prof Alice Schoenfeld. In the United States she has performed with many orchestras and worked with Zubin Mehta, Christoph Eschenbach, Mstislav Rostropovich, Elmer Bernstein and Vladimir Spivakov. In 2000 she won first prize of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Fund for Excellence in Diversity. Upon graduation Yu Ling joined the SSO. Besides music, she also enjoys travelling and trying various types of food in each country.
