Jon Fox

Jon Fox is Principal Percussionist of the SSO, a position he has held since 2000.
As a soloist, Fox has been featured in works including Zhou Long’s Da Qu — which he recorded for the BIS label in its world-premiere recording — Christopher Rouse’s Der gerettete Alberich, Darius Milhaud’s Concerto for Percussion and Small Orchestra, Thea Musgrave’s Journey through a Japanese Landscape for marimba and orchestra, and Samuel Adler’s Canto IX for timpani.
Fox regularly appears as guest percussionist and timpanist with major orchestras in North America, Asia, and Australia, including the New York Philharmonic, Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa, and the Mostly Mozart Orchestra.
In addition to his orchestral career, Fox maintains an active profile in musical theatre, serving as percussionist and drummer for major international productions including Miss Saigon (Broadway), Hamilton, Wicked, Romeo & Juliet, Frozen, Aladdin, and The Sound of Music.
Fox is also involved in creative projects as an arranger and presenter, and his work has included orchestral outreach and digital performance initiatives that connect audiences with the music and musicians of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and beyond. He is a performing artist and education endorser for Zildjian, Vic Firth, and Evans Percussion.
He is deeply committed to music education and holds an Interdisciplinary Ph.D. focused on contemporary pedagogy, reflecting his ongoing interest in the evolving relationship between performance, learning, and artistic development.
