Liu Chang

Associate Principal Bassoon

Liu Chang was born in Beijing, China.

He began studying the bassoon with his father at the age of fourteen. In July 1985, he later graduated from the Central Consevatory of Music in Beijing, also passing an examination given by the Central Philharmonic Orchestra when he then joined and contributed as a bassoonist for eight years.

In July 1993 he joined SSO as an Associate Principal Bassoonist. His other side engagements include being invited as Principal Bassonist with the Shanghai Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra and with the Macau Symphony Orchestra.

Liu Chang went to Germany in July 2004 for a refresher course in music and studied with Professor Klaus Tunemann from the Hochschule fuer Musik - "Hans Eisler", Berlin.
