Born into a musical family, Luo Biao studied the violin under his father when he was six. He later attended the Middle School of Shanghai Conservatory of Music where he was selected and sponsored by Richard Ferrin to study the violin and viola at Chicago Musical College. At the Cleveland Institute of Music, he studied with Heidi Castleman. Luo Biao has worked with several orchestras including Toledo Symphony (as Principal Violist), Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, Richmond Symphony and New World Symphony (Miami). In 1994 he won Second Prize (the highest prize awarded) in the American String Teachers Association National Solo Competition. Luo Biao lives with his parents in Singapore and his interests include swimming, spending time with friends and computers.
