Thossaporn Sombat

Thai horn player Thossaporn Sombat has built a distinguished career as a performer. Since 2019, he has served as Principal Horn of the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra.

A prize-winning virtuoso, Thossaporn’s accolades include First Prize at the Solo category of the Brass, Colorguard, and Percussion Contest (2011) and the Thailand International Horn Competition (2014), as well as being a finalist in the Brass Quintet category at the Jeju International Brass Competition (2018).

He has appeared as guest principal with orchestras across China, including the Wuhan Philharmonic, Qingdao Symphony, and Guiyang Symphony, collaborating with renowned conductors and soloists. He also shares his expertise through education, having been a guest tutor at the 2019 Penang International Brass Festival.

An alumnus of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, where he studied under Jamie Hersch, Thossaporn has participated in masterclasses with Radovan Vlatkovic, Olivier Darbellay, and David Cooper, and continues to perform in ensembles and orchestras throughout Singapore.
