A Harmony of Two Causes

A Harmony of Two Causes

May 2023

For the first time, the SSO and Food from the Heart (FFTH) joined forces to present A Symphony of Passion, a joint fundraising gala that supported two causes that impact communities in different but important ways.

Held on 29 April 2023 at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, the event raised over $1.7 million through generous contributions from our donors. The proceeds will be divided equally between both organisations to support the SSO’s musical programmes locally and internationally, and FFTH in its quest to alleviate hunger among the disadvantaged in Singapore.

A Symphony of Passion marks the start of our friendship with Food from the Heart, a charity which has impacted communities in Singapore in very meaningful ways. Their efforts in reaching out to the less privileged are truly admirable, and we are incredibly happy that we are working together to support both charities in our respective missions.

Under the baton of Associate Conductor Rodolfo Barráez, the SSO showcased a suite of works which brought guests around the world. SSO violinist Zhao Tian took the stage in solo performances of excerpts from The Butterfly Lovers Concerto and Cinema Paradiso for Solo Violin & Orchestra, before vocalist Frances Lee and the SSO concluded the programme on a heartwarming note with an encore performance of What A Wonderful World.

We extend our deepest appreciation to the members of the SSO Ladies’ League, led by Chairlady Mrs Odile Benjamin, for the contribution to the joint fundraising gala’s success. We would also like to express our gratitude to all our donors, sponsors, and guests who supported the fundraiser.

See you at the next edition!
