SSO Tribute To Frontline Workers And Concert Updates

The Singapore Symphony Orchestra is dedicating its concert at the Gardens by the Bay on 15 March 2020 to all healthcare personnel working at the frontline. Located at The Meadow in the Gardens with free seating on park grounds, the event will have precautionary measures such as streamlining of entry points and screening of temperature.

The public is advised not to attend the concert if they are unwell or placed on Leave of Absence.
Other updates on our concerts are as follows:
- Two concerts in February and March to proceed with adjustments:
- SSO concert at Esplanade Concert Hall on 29 February 2020 to proceed with new conductors Darrell Ang and Joshua Tan
- SSO concert at Victoria Concert Hall on 27 & 28 March 2020 to proceed without popular Chinese baritone Zhou Zhengzhong
- Two concerts cancelled:
- SSO free concert at ITE College West on 14 March 2020 cancelled, in line with suspension of large group activities on school grounds
- VCHpresents recital by Zhou Zhengzhong on 29 March cancelled
In addition, the SSO has extended concert invitations to healthcare workers, public transport and taxi drivers, as well as private-hire drivers in Singapore, with a pair complimentary tickets to any of these three performances:
- Martin Grubinger • The Tears of Nature (Sat, 29 Feb, Esplanade Concert Hall)
- Philippe Quint • The Red Violin (Thu, 5 Mar, Esplanade Concert Hall)
- The Genteel Horn of Mr Han (Fri, 13 Mar, Victoria Concert Hall)
“The SSO has been taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of our performers and audience members, as we continue to bring Singapore together and lift spirits with music during these trying times,” said Chng Hak-Peng, CEO of the Singapore Symphony Group. “Many of our concertgoers have expressed their appreciation — as we work hard to maintain the weekly tempo of our appearances in the cultural calendar."
“We also very much look forward to welcoming our frontline workers and hope to be able to provide them with some respite through our music,” he added.
