Come March 2, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra presents the world premiere of A is for Aiyah at the Victoria Concert Hall, composed by young Singaporean composer Diana Soh, an alumnus of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music and currently based in Paris. French soprano Élise Chauvin brings us on a journey of Mahlerian song through five lieder based on the poetry of Friedrich Rückert, and then the avant-garde theatre of Ligeti’s Mysteries of the Macabre.

Élise Chauvin is a rising French soprano. She started singing at the age of 10, when she joined the Maîtrise de Paris directed by Patrick Marco at the Paris Conservatory. After obtaining a degree in philosophy at the University of Paris VIII (University of Vincennes in Saint-Denis), she studied with Peggy Bouveret at École Normale de Musique de Paris in 2006 and graduated with a Master's Diploma in Music, with the support of the Zaleski Foundation.
