If any of these names starts a tune in your head, you’ll want to attend our upcoming concert SSO Pops: Happy Days - Favourite TV Themes.
SSO Pops concerts are a special highlight every season, with programmes designed to appeal to and entertain a wider audience. SSO Pops Concerts have featured, in the past, A Night At The Movies, Broadway and Jazz, film screenings with live orchestra as well as Video Games Music (coming in 2019).
Game of Thrones, Star Trek: Discovery, Sex and the City, Downton Abbey.
Prominent TV favourites from recent years are also featured. The 7 Nov concert is segmented into themes such as Sci-Fi, Love, Thrillers and Detectives and Comedies.
Dallas, MASH, E.R., House of Cards, Law & Order, Fame, Don’t Stop Believing.
Accompanying the orchestra are four vocalists, Hazrul Nizam from popular Singapore a cappella group Vocaluptuous, up and coming actor-musician Benjamin Chow, veteran jazz singer Alemay Fernandez, and high-chemistry duo Jack & Rai. They will sing classic TV theme songs from such shows as:
The Greatest American Hero, Friends, Moonlighting, Dallas, MASH, The Love Boat, Golden Girls.
The concert is conducted by award-winning conductor/arranger Gerard Salonga, brother of famed Philippines singer Lea Salonga. Gerard is also leading our next Concert for Children: Music Tells a Story (10 & 11 Nov).
