SINGAPORE SYMPHONY CHORUS, YOUTH CHOIR AND CHILDREN'S CHOIR ANNOUNCE CHANGES TO UPCOMING CONCERTS

Due to the evolving COVID-19 situation, the Singapore Symphony Choruses today announce changes to their existing concert schedule. To support the national call for safe distancing, all choruses have suspended their rehearsals since 19 March 2020, and preparations for their upcoming appearances have been put on hold.

The Singapore Symphony Chorus (SSC) celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. The concert scheduled to take place at the Victoria Concert Hall on Saturday 4 April, Forty-ssimo: The Welcome Celebration!, will be postponed until 27 September, 2020. The programme for this concert will remain the same. The concert that had been scheduled to take place on that date, Forty-ssimo: Ode to Home will be postponed to 20 March 2021, 4pm.

In addition, Between the Lines, a concert by the Singapore Symphony Children's and Youth Choirs which was due to take place on 30 May 2020, will be cancelled.

Singapore Symphony Chorus Choral Director Eudenice Palaruan said, “We were very excited to mark the 40th anniversary of the SSC and mark our historical association with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and the Victoria Concert Hall, but the safety of our performers and audience members is paramount. We apologise to all our fans and lovers of choral music for any inconvenience caused and look forward to your continued support.”

A full refund will be arranged for all ticket holders. For payment via credit card, ticket holders will receive an automatic refund issued by SISTIC within 1-2 months’ credit card billing cycle. For payment via cash/NETS, SISTIC will be in touch with ticket holders on the various ways to obtain the refund.

Tickets will go on sale for the two postponed concerts at a later date.

From decade to decade, song to song, the Singapore Symphony Chorus (SSC) has grown in strength and voice. Celebrating our 40th anniversary year in 2020, Forty-ssimo is our commemoration of four decades of choral excellence, through music that has defined the SSC. From the solemn majesty of Brahms’s Requiem and Handel’s Messiah to the familiar tunes of Singapore, this is the music of our journey, our Ode to Home.
