Singapore, 27 August 2025 — The Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) will be conducting open auditions for its 2026 President’s Young Performers Concert.  

The annual concert shines a spotlight on young talented musicians in Singapore — giving them the rare chance to perform with the SSO at the Victoria Concert Hall.  Successful candidates will perform as soloists with the SSO in 2026 (date to be announced). 

Auditions will be held for shortlisted Singaporean instrumentalists performing concertos or concertante works written for their instrument and Singaporean vocalists performing any vocal work with orchestra.

Past performers have included violist Lim Chun, violinists Chan Yoong-Han, Kong Xianlong, Grace Lee, Loh Jun Hong, Yang Shuxiang and Gabriel Ng, saxophonist Samuel Phua as well as pianists Azariah Tan, Li Churen, Abigail Sin, Lim Yan, Jonathan Chua and Gavin Jared Bala.

Eligibility: 
Applicants must be Singapore citizens and 25 years old or younger as of 1 January 2026.

For clarity: Applicant must be born on or after 2 January 2000 to qualify for application.

Application Deadline:  
Applicants are invited to submit their online application by 5 December 2025, with the following items:  

  1. Biography including their date of birth, musical background and contact information  
  2. A high-quality video featuring a recent performance of a complete concerto or concertante work with either piano or orchestra accompaniment, with composer name, duration of each movement and edition (if applicable) of the work clearly labelled via the following link: PYP Audition 2026

Applications that do not comply with the above guidelines may be disqualified.

Shortlisted applicants will be notified by email in January 2026 to participate in live auditions, which are scheduled to take place on 9 February 2026. They should be prepared to play the concerto or concertante work submitted in full and should arrange for their own piano accompanist to play the orchestral part.

Shortlisted applicants may be invited to a second round of live auditions in March 2026, where they may be asked to perform either their original concerto or concertante work, or a different work.

Successful candidates will be notified by email in April 2026.

All decisions made by the SSO are final and will be determined exclusively by the technical proficiency and musical artistry displayed during the applicant’s performance.
