Each year, the SSO organises a gala event with the help of the SSO Ladies' League to raise funds for the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and its affiliated groups.
These donations are important contributions that enable us to stage sophisticated productions, support instrument repairs and our performing groups on overseas tours.
Shortly after the SSO was established in 1979, the orchestra needed a pipe organ to expand its performing repertoire. A small group of dynamic ladies got together to raise the funds required and in May 1984, the Klais organ was successfully installed at the Victoria Concert Hall. This was the start of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra Ladies’ League.
Since then, the League has raised more than $20 million through numerous benefit dinners, soirees, golf tournaments and other activities, all in the spirit of spreading the love for music, nurturing talent, and enriching our diverse communities.
