It was an occasion to remember at the Temasek Foundation SSO Hans Graf Inaugural Concert. From curious students to music aficionados, concertgoers from all walks of life gathered to witness the long-awaited performance.

Maestro Hans Graf was first formally introduced to Singapore as Chief Conductor of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra in July 2019. Shortly after, the COVID-19 pandemic struck and saw the dreadful curtailment of concerts slated for the season.

Music Director Hans Graf and the full orchestra took the stage at the Temasek Foundation SSO Hans Graf Inaugural Concert.

Held from 27 to 29 July 2022 at the Esplanade Concert Hall, the Temasek Foundation SSO Hans Graf Inaugural Concert also featured performances by Singapore’s young violin star Chloe Chua as SSO’s Artist-In-Residence for 2022/2023 season.

SSO Artist-In-Residence Chloe Chua treated the audience to Mozart’s delightful Violin Concerto No.5.

The inauguration took place over the course of three evenings. The opening concert on 27 July was a free preview for students aged seven and above. Students from primary and secondary schools and junior colleges enjoyed the pieces with a specially-written guide. Funding from Temasek Foundation also enabled beneficiaries from TOUCH Young Arrows, FRCS Eldercare & Caregivers Centre, Montfort Care, Rainbow Centre and SHINE Children and Youth Services to enjoy the concert, in line with the SSG’s continued aim to spread the love for music in the community.

This historic occasion, the inauguration of the SSO’s third music director, marks a new chapter in the SSO’s 43-year history.
