The Singapore Symphony Orchestra will host violinist Tsukasa Nitta from the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra (TMSO) in February 2020 as part of the TMSO-SSO musician exchange programme.

Nitta, Second Violin of the TMSO, will join the SSO for a concert featuring pieces by Knussen, Tan Dun and Rachmaninoff, with acclaimed multi-percussionist Martin Grubinger and led by guest conductor Robert Spano on 29 February, Saturday, 7.30 pm at the Esplanade Concert Hall.

A graduate of Toho Gakuen School of Music, Toho Graduate School of Music and Toho Orchestra Academy, Nitta joined the TMSO in 2017. The orchestra is established by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in 1965, where Kazushi Ono serves as Music Director.

The TMSO-SSO musician exchange programme was initiated in 2009, where the two orchestras' musicians experience performing in Tokyo and Singapore, respectively.
