The Singapore Symphony Orchestra continues to lift the nation’s spirits with the announcement today of a programme of live events to take place in April and May, including more live concerts featuring SSO Chief Conductor Hans Graf and performances by brilliant violinist, Bomsori Kim, SSO’s first international guest artist since the start of the pandemic.

On 10 & 17 April, Hans Graf is on the podium for a pair of concerts featuring music by Mozart, Schubert and Beethoven, among others. On 17 April he will be joined by virtuoso violinist Bomsori Kim, who performs Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 1. This concert will open with the world premiere of Danish composer Paul von Klenau’s Symphony No. 8 “In Olden Style”.

On 23 April the SSO marks 55 years of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Japan with One Summer’s Day, a programme of chamber music by Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi and Hajime Komatsu. This concert will take place at the Victoria Concert Hall, home of the SSO.

Also announced today is an SSO concert taking place at Victoria Concert Hall on 31 March and twice on 1 April. The orchestra will perform two works by Mozart: the Lucio Silla Overture and his Symphony No. 29, as well as Grieg’s delightful Holberg Suite, conducted by Joshua Tan.

SSO also announces further concerts in its VCHpresents chamber music series. On Sunday 18 April, Bomsori Kim performs a programme of works by Bach, Beethoven and Waxman with pianist Lim Yan in VCHpresents Chamber: Bomsori Kim in Recital. This is followed by an all-Vivaldi extravaganza taking place across two nights, on 30 April and 1 May. VCHpresents: Vivacious Vivaldi will include the composer’s “Alla rustica” Concerto for Strings and the Concerto in A minor for Two Violins, alongside other works. Finally, in May, Singapore organist Isaac Lee teams up with Red Dot Baroque on 19 May in a performance of works by J. S. and C. P. E. Bach, among others.

Tickets for Halcyon Days (31 March & 1 April) will be on sale from Thursday 18 March at 10am. Tickets for all other concerts will go on sale from Wednesday 31 March at 10am.
