STAR PIANIST YEFIM BRONFMAN TO PERFORM BEETHOVEN’S PIANO CONCERTO NO. 4 AND BARTOK’S PIANO CONCERTO NO. 2 WITH THE SSO ON 30 NOV 2017

The Singapore Symphony Orchestra announced today that distinguished pianist Yefim Bronfman has accepted their invitation to appear in a concert on November 30. In this gala double-bill of piano concertos, the SSO is privileged to partner Bronfman for Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 and Bartok’s Piano Concerto No. 2. Tickets for the Yefim Bronfman Gala will be available for sale through www.sistic.com.sg from 9.00am on October 10.

Widely praised for his solo, chamber and orchestral recordings, Yefim Bronfman has been nominated for 6 GRAMMY® Awards, winning in 1997 with Esa-Pekka Salonen and the Los Angeles Philharmonic for their recording of the three Bartok Piano Concerti. His most recent CD releases are the 2014 GRAMMY® nominated Magnus Lindberg's Piano Concerto No. 2 commissioned for him and performed by the New York Philharmonic conducted by Alan Gilbert on the Da Capo label; Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No.1 with Mariss Jansons and the Bayerischer Rundfunk; a recital disc, Perspectives, complementing Mr. Bronfman’s designation as a Carnegie Hall ‘Perspectives’ artist for the 2007-08 season; and recordings of all the Beethoven piano concerti as well as the Triple Concerto together with violinist Gil Shaham, cellist Truls Mørk, and the Tönhalle Orchestra Zürich under David Zinman for the Arte Nova/BMG label.

Lang Lang has cancelled his Singapore concerts due to inflammation in his left arm. Under his doctor’s recommendation, Lang Lang will take this time to rest his left arm and allow it to heal. This opened up the opportunity for the orchestra to collaborate again with Mr Bronfman, who last worked with the SSO in November 2014.
