Wang Xiaoke is Principal Bassoon of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, the Music Director of the Casle Chamber Orchestra, and the Vice President of the China Bassoon Society. He studied bassoon with Wang Kexin from 1991. In 1998, he was admitted to the Orchestral Instruments Department of the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM) and studied with Li Lansong. During his studies in CCOM, he won scholarships and was appointed the Principal Bassoon of the China Juvenile Symphony Orchestra and China Youth Symphony Orchestra. From 1998 to 1999, he was the Principal Bassoon of the Asian Youth Orchestra (AYO) and toured more than 10 countries in Europe and America with AYO. His performance was highly acclaimed by The Seattle Times. In 2005, he won the First Prize of the Third CCOM Wind Chamber Solo Competition (Professional Bassoon category), followed by First Prize of the National Woodwind Ensemble Competition in 2006. In 2009, he was awarded “Outstanding Youth Post Expert” by China Ministry of Culture. In 2010, he was sent to Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón as visiting scholar by the China Scholarship Council and studied with Italian bassoon virtuoso Stefano Canuti.
